The name Kokuyō (黒曜) evokes obsidian, a deep black volcanic rock with mysterious reflections that has fascinated people since ancient times. The black Damascus steel blade reveals undulating patterns reminiscent of lava flows frozen in obsidian. The bo-hi carves an elegant groove that lightens the blade while producing a characteristic whistling sound when moved.
