Aomikado katana sword: design and finishes
Ao (青) symbolizes the deep blue of the sky, while Mikado (帝) refers to the emperor in Japanese tradition. This katana, with its imperial beauty, embodies nobility and elegance with its azure blue sheen.
Its T10 steel blade features a striking blue hue, enhanced by delicately engraved white kamon that contrast with the metallic sheen. The round black alloy guard (tsuba) features precisely chiseled spiked symbols, creating a refined play of light and shadow. The handle (tsuka) harmoniously combines white imitation stingray skin and black braiding (tsuka-ito) in a diamond pattern, while the menuki represent a black dragon, a symbol of power and wisdom. The black lacquered wooden scabbard (saya) is decorated with blue and yellow spots evoking celestial clouds, complemented by a black sageo and matching fittings (kojiri, koiguchi).
